ABC Bullion is Australia's largest privately-owned bullion dealer and refinery, founded in Sydney in 1972. Unlike Perth Mint products, ABC Bullion bars are produced entirely within Australia by a fully independent, privately held company — making them unique in the Australian market.

As a fully LBMA-accredited refinery carrying the internationally recognised CHI Essayeur Fondeur certification, ABC Bullion bars are accepted at face value by every major bullion bank, central bank, and dealer worldwide without further assay. As an authorised ABC Bullion dealer, every bar we supply comes directly from the refinery with full provenance documentation.

Both formats contain identical 999.9 fine gold. The differences are in presentation, premium, and resale context:

  • Minted (~2.5% premium): Precision-stamped bar in a sealed assay card. Unique serial number, CHI Essayeur Fondeur certification, tamper-evident packaging. Full documented provenance. Easier to resell to any dealer globally without question.
  • Cast (~2.0% premium): Traditional pour-moulded bar. Hallmarks and serial number stamped directly on the surface. No assay card. Slightly lower premium — better gold content per dollar spent.

For most investors at this price point, the minted format's extra provenance documentation is worth the small premium differential. The cast bar suits investors who are buying purely for gold content value and plan to sell back to a known dealer (such as Solomons Bullion) rather than through private channels.

Both are LBMA-accredited Australian refineries producing 999.9 fine gold bars accepted worldwide. The key differences:

  • Ownership: Perth Mint is government-owned (Western Australian Government); ABC Bullion is privately owned and operated.
  • Brand recognition: Perth Mint has higher global brand recognition, particularly in Asian markets. ABC Bullion is well-known domestically and across the Pacific.
  • Premium: ABC Bullion 100g bars often carry a marginally lower premium than equivalent Perth Mint minted bars, reflecting the brand differential.
  • Product range: ABC Bullion offers the unique CombiBar™ format (50 × 1g segments). Perth Mint offers the iconic Kangaroo motif.

Both are excellent investment-grade products. The choice often comes down to brand preference and whether you anticipate selling into markets where the Perth Mint's name carries more weight.

Your 100g bar can be collected in person at our Sydney or Melbourne offices, delivered by fully insured specialist courier, or placed directly into our allocated vault storage — free for the first 3 months with every purchase.

Allocated storage: your specific bar is identified by serial number, ring-fenced in our vault, and insured at full replacement value through Lloyd's of London. Storage fee: 0.15% per annum. Sell at 100% spot at any time without taking delivery.

Investment-grade gold (≥99.5% pure) is exempt from GST under Australian law. Both minted and cast formats are GST-free. Selling is a Capital Gains Tax event — if held more than 12 months, the 50% CGT discount applies to individuals. A detailed tax invoice is provided for every purchase. Retain all invoices for CGT records. Seek independent tax advice for your circumstances.
